Twelve-year-old Alif is fighting for his life in a foreign hospital, and his family is now facing a crisis that may be as devastating as the illness itself: they are running out of money to continue his treatment.
TODAY TV BD previously published a report titled “Will Little Alif’s Life Be Extinguished for Lack of Money? A 12-Year-Old Child’s Plea for Survival.” His struggle, however, has not ended. His condition has reportedly deteriorated, while the financial burden on his family has reached a critical point.
According to the family, the hospital has warned that unless the outstanding treatment costs are paid, they may have to take Alif back to Bangladesh.
For a child who is already in a critical condition, the prospect of stopping treatment or undertaking a difficult journey home has left the family devastated.
“The hospital is telling us that unless we deposit the money, we will have to take him back to Bangladesh. Everyone at home is crying. My father can no longer manage the expenses. We already have another loan,” a family member told us.
Alif’s condition has become critical
The family says Alif is currently in a highly critical condition and that doctors have described the coming period as extremely important.
According to the family’s account, Alif has developed several serious medical complications, including severe metabolic problems, kidney dysfunction, extremely low blood pressure, low haemoglobin, liver complications and respiratory problems.
The family has also reported difficulty managing some of his basic bodily functions.

A family struggling against both illness and debt
Alif’s family says they have already spent a substantial amount on his treatment and have taken on additional debt to keep him alive.
Now, however, their financial resources are nearly exhausted.
The family member described the situation in heartbreaking terms:
“My father cannot manage anymore. There is already another loan. We are being asked to pay urgently, and we simply do not know where the money will come from.”
For the family, every passing day has become a difficult calculation:

How long can treatment continue?
Where will the next payment come from?
And what happens to Alif if they cannot pay?
Family raises concerns over a medical complication
The family has also raised a serious concern regarding a medical procedure performed during Alif’s treatment.
According to their account, they were informed by a junior doctor that complications may have occurred during an LP (lumbar puncture) procedure and that there may have been an injury involving the spinal area.
The family says the hospital has not accepted this allegation.
TODAY TV BD has not independently verified the allegation, and no medical documentation confirming such an injury has been provided to us. The issue should therefore be treated strictly as a family allegation pending independent medical review.
Nevertheless, the family says the alleged complication has contributed to further medical difficulties and significantly increased the cost of treatment.
A child who should be thinking about school, not survival
At just 12 years old, Alif should be worrying about school, friends, games and childhood dreams.
Instead, his family is now fighting to keep his treatment going.
For a family already struggling financially, overseas medical care can become overwhelming. Hospital bills, medicines, diagnostic tests, accommodation, transportation and other related costs can rapidly consume everything a family has.
And when the money runs out, the illness does not stop.
“We have almost no one left to ask”
The family says their emotional and financial support network has also become increasingly limited.
One relative described repeatedly calling people for help but receiving little response.
“I called around 15 people. Almost no one answered. They know we are calling because we need money.”
That sentence perhaps captures the family’s desperation more clearly than anything else.
They are not asking for luxury.
They are asking for time.
Time for Alif to continue receiving treatment.
Time for doctors to fight for his recovery.
Time for a 12-year-old child to have another chance at life.
